This is a song I wrote about one of my neighbors here in Chesapeake, Virginia, he was a real cowboy. Jerry loved his land, his horse and the whole cowboy lifestyle. I wanted to do something to keep his memory alive. Rest in peace my friend.
Lyrics
A Cowboys Dream
It’s a cowboys dream
To work hard everyday
Squirrelin’ that money
That money away
Buy a piece of land
A piece of land some day
He can call his own
Then one day
He’ll raise a family
And some horses too
He trusts in God above
This life, he does love
It’s a cowboys dream
mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Then one day his good life
Will end
He gave thanks to the Lord above
Last thing he said
Then his good friends
We all got together one day
And on his good land,
His ashes ….
We did spread
For the life he led (repeats)
It’s a cowboys…. A cowboys dream (4x) mmm, mmm
